Dalcroze Eurhythmics

Eurhythmics applies the principles of music to the body, in a similar manner that one would apply music to an instrument. Because of its organic nature, students can discover how to “play” their bodies as they learn to sing or play an instrument. Experienced musicians can discover an entirely new connection to music by connecting to the physical properties of music.

Dalcroze Eurhythmics:
Experiencing Music through Movement

Opportunities for professional training in Dalcroze Eurhythmics are limited in the United States. Most American music educators are only briefly introduced to Eurhythmics during their undergraduate training, and many are frustrated by this limited access to Dalcroze’s powerful teaching methods. Join Marcia Daft in an active exploration of Jaques-Dalcroze's philosophy and principles of music education. Learn how to teach students musical concepts through physical experiences, resulting in increased joy in learning and a more deeply embodied mastery of musical elements.

Marcia Daft studied Eurhythmics with Bob Abrahamson at the Juilliard School, Lisa Parker at Longy Conservatory, and Jack Stevenson at the University of Maryland. She has been awarded both the Certificate and License – the French parallel of the American Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
